VULNERABLE SECTOR SEARCH
In addition to the Criminal Record Search a person may also request a Vulnerable Sector Search. This search is for individuals who will be employed or who volunteer in vulnerable positions such as; foster parents, adoptions, social workers, etc. Also required when working and/or volunteering with children, the elderly, sick or infirm.

A criminal record check search may provide the following information obtained from Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC);

Outstanding entries (i.e. Charged and wanted persons)

Records of criminal convictions, as the records exist on the date of search

Finding of guilt where a pardon has not been granted
The Belleville Police Service completes Criminal Record Searches throughout the year and when a citizen requires a Criminal Record Search they attend the Belleville Police headquarters with the appropriate identification and application.
The application generally takes seven business days to process and the citizen will then return in person to pick up the Criminal Record Search Certificate.
Volunteer Criminal Record Search Applications
Volunteers with any non-profit organization working with the vulnerable sector are required to complete the Criminal Record Search for service with the Vulnerable Sector. They must contain the following information:
Complete all areas of the Criminal Record Search form and check the Vulnerable Sector box.

A volunteer letter from an authorized agency identifying the non-profit agency, with non-profit organization number (if available) and the name of the volunteer.

The applicant MUST attend in person with two (2) pieces of valid identification.

The applicant must produce two pieces of identification that confirm his/her name, date of birth and address. One piece of identification must include a photo.

FREE Volunter Records Checks
Belleville Police Service offers volunteers with non-profit organizations working with the vulnerable sector a free CRC. This service will be offered bi-weekly starting in August, 2010.
Citizens requiring a volunteer CRC may attend at the Children's Safety Village from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the subsequent (bi-weekly) from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please see the EVENTS Calendar within this web site for all scheduled dates.
Belleville Police Service will continue to accept Volunteer CRC Applications on this schedule.
Volunteers will be able to complete their CRC application at the Children's Safety Village and in 5 to 7 business days pick up their CRC by attending the main reception area of Belleville Police Service (93 Dundas Street East, Belleville).
Volunteers with non-profit organizations working with the vulnerable sector are required to complete the Police Records Check for Service with the Vulnerable Sector. They must contain the following information:
- Complete all areas of the Police Records Check form and check the Vulnerable Sector box.
- A volunteer letter from an authorized agency identifying the non-profit agency, with non-profit organization number (if available) and the name of the volunteer to have the processing fee waived.
- Bring two (2) pieces of valid identification (with at least 1 piece of photo id).
There is NO fee for service for a Volunteer Criminal Record Check if you attend on the designated dates.
Volunteers who attend the Belleville Police Service at any time outside of the aforementioned dates and times to have their Criminal Record Search processed will be required to pay a fee for service of $20.00 or $40.00 based on their residency.

Vulnerable Record Searches will not be conducted for individuals who are unable to attend in person.
Basic Criminal Searches (C.P.I.C. only) will be conducted under the following conditions:
In order to conduct a Criminal Record Search from outside of our area, you must attend a Notary Public with the following documents:

2 pieces of government issued identification (1 of which must contain a photograph)

A letter of request to have your Criminal Record Search done, including the reason for the request (e.g. Pardon, Immigration, Employment, etc.).

If you wish to have someone else pick up the completed document on your behalf, you must indicate that we have your permission to release it to that particular individual and identify them by name, date of birth and address.
