Fingerprinting

Fingerprints - Civil Purposes

By Appointment Only

We ask that you please book your appointment online. Booking online is the quickest and easiest way to schedule your appointment.

Staff at Police Headquarters have access to the same appointment dates/times that appear online.

DIGITAL Fingerprints - Citizenship, Employment, Adoption, Volunteer, Immigration, Visas/Waivers, Record Suspension Application (Pardon), Other Civil Purposes.

Fees  may be paid in exact change by cash,  Interac/Debit,  Visa or MasterCard.

Digital Fingerprints

  • $55 ($25 RCMP fee included) Belleville Resident

Inked Fingerprints

(ONLY if fingerprints are sent out of the country, foreign passport, FBI Form, etc.)

Mandatory fingerprinting - Criminal

If you have been charged with a criminal offence and released with a fingerprinting date, your release documents will have the time and date you must attend fingerprinting.

Request for Fingerprint/Photograph Destruction:

You may request to have your fingerprints/photographs destroyed that were taken by the BPS if your request meets the Fingerprint/Photograph Destruction Policy criteria and is approved by the RCMP.fingerprinting

Fee Structure:

Stayed Charges - At least one (1) year has elapsed from the date the stay was imposed (applies to judicial and prosecutorial stays) - $38 fee

Conditional Discharge - After three (3) years from the date of completion of sentence -  $38 fee

No Fee:

Absolute Discharge - After one (1) year from the date of the disposition.

Acquittal -  Other than by reason of a verdict of not criminally responsible on account of mental disorder, applications for destruction will be accepted after four (4) months from the disposition date’s expiry.

Withdrawn or Dismissed - Other than by acquittal - thirty (30) days (appeal period) from disposition date.

Withdrawn - Peace Bond - Upon expiry of the bond, normally one (1) year from disposition.

Withdrawn - Diversion - After two (2) years from the date of diversion.

As of February 1st, 2017 the Belleville Police Service will no longer accept requests from outside agencies on behalf of clients for Fingerprint/Photograph Destruction.  The person must now attend the front counter of the Belleville Police Service with two (2) pieces of valid identification (i.e. Driver’s Licence, Birth Certificate or Passport) to make such a request. At least one piece of identification must contain your photo and date of birth.  A form will be presented to you to be filled out at this time OR you may print it out yourself from our website and bring it with you along with your identification for verification.

A status letter will be sent within two (2) months of the application.
