Belleville Police Service responded to 58 calls for service from the 9th of February 2019 at 5:00 a.m. to the 10th of February 2019 at 5:00 a.m.

Two fishermen fell through the ice

Belleville, ON – On February 9th, 2019,at 7:34 a.m., Belleville Police received a call from EMS that two men and their ATV plunged into open water on the Bay of Quinte approx. 3 kms  S/E of the South George St. boat launch. Luck was on their side as two anglers in a nearby fish hut heard their cries for help and pulled both men to safety with a rope. They warmed the men in their hut before shuttling them individually to shore on their 4-wheeler to an ambulance. Despite wearing floater bibs and a floater suit, both men suffered hypothermia for their icy plunge. They were both taken to BGH via ambulance and later discharged.

R.I.D.E. Program

Belleville, ON – On the 9th of February, 2019, during the course of the afternoon, Belleville Police conducted a R.I.D.E. program. The officers checked over 385 vehicles, administered one roadside screening, and 9 warnings were given to motorists regarding various Highway Traffic Act violations.

Drugs

Belleville, ON – On the 10th of February, 2019 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Belleville Police officers were called to a location on North Front St. with regard to an intoxicated female attempting to drive away. An investigation revealed that the 25 year-old Kingston woman was in possession of a Schedule I substance and was subsequently arrested. She was later released on a promise to appear.
