Belleville Police Service responded to 75 calls for service from the 7th of May 2019 at 5:00 a.m. to the 8th of May 2019 at 5:00 a.m.

Shoplifter

Belleville, Ontario – On the 7th of May shortly after 1:00 p.m., police responded to a retail store in the city’s north end with regards to a shoplifter. Store security had a 48 year-old female in custody upon police arrival. Police investigation resulted in one count of theft under $5000 being leveled against Belleville resident Patricia Lambert. She was released at the scene on a form 9 appearance notice with a court date of June 6th.

Arrest on Warrants

Belleville, Ontario – At approximately 1:30 a.m. on the 8th of May, an officer on patrol observed a 22 year-old Belleville male on Dundas St. W. who had outstanding arrest warrants for breach of probation and failing to attend for court. The male was arrested on the strength of the warrants and is being held to be brought before a Justice of the Peace at 1:00 p.m. on the 8th as the warrants were unendorsed.

Belleville, Ontario – At 2:00 a.m. on the 8th of May, police responded to the area of Hwy. 62 and the 401 with relation to an intoxicated male who was arrested shortly after police arrival due to the level of his intoxication. Further investigation revealed that he also had an outstanding arrest warrant for breach of probation that was not endorsed. The 35 year-old Belleville resident was kept in custody to be brought before a Justice of the Peace at 1:00 p.m. on the 8th of May and issued two provincial offence notices for being intoxicated and for having open alcohol in a public place.

Capsized Kayaks

Belleville, Ontario – On the 7th of May at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of The Belleville Police Service responded to the shoreline of The Bay of Quinte in response to a call that two kayakers had capsized. Shortly after police arrival it was found that a boater was in position to assist the kayakers right themselves and get safely to shore. Neither kayaker required medical attention.
