Arrest made in aggravated assault
Belleville ON - On the 22nd of June 2019, Belleville Police began investigating an incident where a male was punched in the parking lot of a North Front Street bar. The punch caused the victim to fall back, hitting his head on the ground. As a result of being knocked down, the victim sustained serious injuries including a skull fracture, bleeding on the brain, and a collapsed lung, causing him to be rushed to Kingston General Hospital where he spent considerable time recovering from his injuries. The suspect then assaulted two other males who sustained injuries before he fled in a vehicle.
Belleville Police Criminal Investigative Division was able to identify the suspect, a 21 year-old Belleville man, and he was arrested following a traffic stop on the 9th of August. The suspect will be held for a bail hearing on the 10th of August to face charges of aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, and assault.
Arrested on warrants
Belleville ON - On the 9th of August 2019 at 8:00 p.m., police observed a male entering a Front Street bar who was known to be wanted for breaching his probation. Police located the male who attempted to flee the scene. After a short foot chase, the male was arrested. Jacob Kirton, 32, of Belleville was held for a bail hearing.
Multiple suspended drivers/ alcohol related suspensions
Belleville ON - On the 9th of August 2019 at 7:15 p.m., police observed a female known to be a suspended driver driving on Dundas Street East. A 33 year-old female from Warkworth was charged and her vehicle was towed.
At 7:30 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Wallbridge Loyalist Road. The driver, a 35 year-old Belleville man, had a suspended license as well as open alcohol in the vehicle. The male was charged with driving under suspension, having an expired val tag, having open liquor in the vehicle, and he was issued a three day license suspension
On the 10th of August 2019 at 12:20 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on North Front Street and learned that the driver only possessed a G1 license. He was also required to have an ignition interlock device from a previous alcohol related driving charge. A 51 year-old Belleville man was charged with driving without an ignition interlock device, and driving without a qualified accompanying driver. He will appear in court in September.
At 12:45 a.m., police stopped an 18 year-old driver for speeding on Wallbridge Loyalist Road. While speaking with the driver, police felt that the driver had been drinking. A road side alcohol test was conducted, and the driver was issued a three day license suspension.
At 2:25 a.m. police stopped a vehicle on Victoria Avenue as the driver was driving without insurance. The driver, a 65 year-old Belleville man had two previous charges in the last month for driving with no insurance. The man was charged once again, and his vehicle was seized. He will appear in court in September.
