Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges
Belleville ON- On 13 July 2021, at 7:52 p.m., Police conducted a traffic stop on North Front Street after observing a vehicle failing to stop for a light. As the officers approached the vehicle, they observed a male pass a baggie to another male who tried to conceal the bag in his pants. A third passenger observed the officers and fled from the vehicle. He was arrested a short time later. All four males in the vehicle were arrested as it was suspected there was drugs in the vehicle. Police searched the arrested parties and the vehicle and located cocaine, money, scales, and other drug paraphernalia.
Rorrie Macdonald, 57, of Belleville and Nathaniel Collins-Ransome, 20, of Scarborough were charged with possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. They were released with a court date of 16 August 2021. Police also arrested a 17-year-old and 15-year-old from Scarborough. They were both charged with possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and released with a court date of 17 August 2021.
Charges Laid in Hit and Run
Belleville ON- on 9 June 2021, police attended a fail to remain collision where a motorcycle was struck by a Ford Escape causing injuries to the driver of the motorcycle. Police had asked the public for assistance in identifying the driver, and they had subsequently received a tip that the vehicle in question was a red Ford Escape being driven by an elderly female. Police felt that given that information, and the time of the collision, that the driver may frequent the area. Police surveilled the area on the same day of the week that the collision occurred and located the vehicle. Police identified the driver, a 76-year-old Belleville woman, and she was served with a summons to attend court on 4 October 2021 for failing to remain at the scene of the collision, and failing to yield to traffic.
