Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 72 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 24th of January, 2022 to 5:00 am on the Motor vehicle collisions The Belleville Police Service responded to five Motor Vehicle collisions over the past twenty-four hours. Three resulted in minor property damage and no charges were laid. Two resulted in the following charges: On the 24th of January 2022 at 12:00 p.m., Police responded to the area of Bell Blvd and Sidney Street regarding a two-vehicle collision. There were no injuries reported and minor damages to the vehicles. The at fault driver was charged with Follow too Close under the Highway Traffic Act. ON the 24th of January 2022 at 1:55 p.m., Police responded to Sidney Street regarding a two-vehicle collision. There were minor injuries reported and significant damage to both vehicles. The driver of the at fault vehicle was charged with Improper Left Turn under the Highway Traffic Act. Warrant On the 25th of January, 2022 at 2:24 a.m., Belleville Police received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle behind a building on Bridge Street East. Police attended the area and located the suspicious vehicle. Upon investigating, Police identified the male in the vehicle as forty-three-year-old Amos Kellar of Belleville, Ontario. Kellar was wanted on an outstanding warrant from the Belleville Police Service. As a result, Amos Kellar was arrested for the warrant and transported to the Belleville Police Service where he is being held for a bail hearing on the 25th of January, 2022. Public Assistance The Belleville Police Service is requesting the publics assistance in investigating thefts of catalytic converters. The thefts of the exhaust emission control devices have jumped in recent months. The costs associated with replacing the stolen catalytic converters can be substantial for the victims of the thefts.
