Cops and Kids Reel in Another Success

Cops and Kids reel in another success.

Close to 200 participants braved the cold weather as they walked onto the Bay of Quinte for the annual Cops and Kids Ice Fishing derby.

The derby was originally planned to be take place Jan. 18, but was delayed due to weather temperatures causing poor ice conditions. But the delay did not affect the numbers or participants in the slightest.

“The response from the community has been really good,” said Constable Pat Comeau, the individual behind the derby. “The turn out today has been great, we’ve got police officers, auxiliary police, civilians from the police department here as well as conservation officers, fire department, paramedics, the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment and the Cadets.”
