On Saturday, July 20, 2019 at approximately 11:25 am, Belleville Police, Belleville Fire, and Hastings EMS responded to a call of a transport truck crashing into an apartment building on a street in the north west part of Belleville. 

As a result, the residents of the apartment building were evacuated and assistance was provided to them through Red Cross and city staff.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Division, Traffic Safety Unit, and Forensic Identification Unit attended the scene and the investigation is continuing. 

One female was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A 40 year-old male of no fixed address and the driver of the transport truck, was arrested on scene for Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Assault with a Weapon and is being held for a show cause hearing.   This investigation is continuing and an update will be provided later.
