ROBBERY AND DRUG CHARGES

On November 5th  2019, the Belleville Police Service – Intelligence/Street Crime Unit and the Ontario Provincial Police – Quinte Community Street Crime Unit were conducting a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation. While conducting the investigation, police made observation of what was believed to be a home invasion. A short time later, a 911 call was placed to the Belleville Police Service regarding a robbery at a Station Street Belleville address. The call indicated that a Station Street residence was entered by several persons and a male resident was sprayed with mace, kicked, and a cellular telephone was taken. The individuals believed to be responsible were located at a local motel. Entry was made to the rooms occupied by the suspects. Seven occupants of the rooms were arrested for robbery. While effecting the arrests, observations were made of illegal narcotics in the rooms.

Located within the rooms were: 42 grams of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $4200.00 dollars; 23 grams of cocaine with a street value of $2300.00 dollars; and 2.7 grams of Hashish, approximately 125 prescription pills, digital scales and drug packaging, a BB gun, and bear spray.

As a result of the observations made during the investigation and while effecting the arrests, the following individuals were arrested and charged:

Forty year old Belleville resident Nicholas O’DOHERTY was arrested and charged with Robbery with a Weapon, two counts of - Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine and Methamphetamine and Proceeds of Crime. Nicholas O’DOHERTY was also on a Recognizance of Bail on drug related charges and as a result was charged with four counts of Breach of Recognizance.

Thirty three year old Belleville resident Jacob KIRTON was arrested and charged with Robbery with a Weapon, two counts - Possession for Trafficking – Cocaine and Methamphetamine and Proceeds of Crime. Jacob KIRTON had two warrants from Belleville Police Service for Breach Probation and Fail to Attend Court and outstanding warrants from Orillia OPP and Barrie Police Service.

Thirty six year old Belleville resident Matthew BUSHEY was arrested and charged with Robbery with a Weapon, two counts - Possession for Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine and Methamphetamine and Proceeds of Crime.

Twenty six year old Belleville resident Tasha HENNESSEY was arrested and charged with Robbery with a Weapon, two counts - Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine and Methamphetamine and Proceeds of Crime.

 Thirty five year old Belleville resident Bryan SMITH was arrested and charged with Robbery with a Weapon, two counts - Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine and Methamphetamine and Proceeds of Crime.

Thirty three year old Belleville resident Christopher Thirlwall was arrested and charged Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine and Methamphetamine and Proceeds of Crime. Christopher THIRLWALL also had warrants from Belleville Police Service for Breach Probation. Christopher Thirlwall is currently on a Bail recognizance and as a result of the investigation was charged with two counts of Breach of that Recognizance.

Thirty three year old Belleville resident Jennifer Sweet was arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine and Methamphetamine and Proceeds of Crime.

All arrested parties were held for Bail. They will appear in Bail Court on November 7th, 2019.
