Attempted Residential Break-ins


On 31 December 2016 at 9:03 a.m. on William Street and at 11:14 a.m. on Queen Street; Police responded to reports of attempted break-ins to residences which occurred sometime overnight when an unknown suspect attempted to pry off window screens to enter ground floor windows. Both attempts were unsuccessful. Police encourage residents to be vigilant and report suspicious activity. Please remember to secure all windows and doors.

The last call of 2016 to City Police at 11:59 p.m. resulted in the first arrest of 2017 at 12:12 a.m. and left a 20 year old Belleville man sobering up in the police station cells. Police were alerted by motorists about an angry man walking down the road swinging a shovel at passing cars. He was located by Patrol Officers and subsequently charged with Public Intoxication under the Liquor License Act.


Police dealt with numerous other minor disturbances in the City after midnight. There were 2 other liquor related arrests.







On 01 Jan 2017 at 2:03 a.m. Police were called to a Front Street bar where a 30 year old Belleville man was stabbed during an altercation. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The investigation is continuing by Detectives and Forensic Officers. Further media release at a later time.   



Serious Pedestrian Collision


On 01 Jan 2017 at 3:06 a.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle versus pedestrian collision on North Front Street south of Tracey Street. A male in his twenties was transported to Kingston General Hospital with life threatening injuries. Collision Investigators with the Traffic Management Unit and Forensic Officers are investigating. North Front Street is expected to be closed at Tracey Street until approximately 8 a.m.  Further media release at a later time.
