Domestic Assault

Belleville, Ont ? On April 1, 2009, at approximately 6:30p.m., police responded to a report of a Domestic Assault in the north end of the city. It was alleged the accused attempted to choke the victim. A 61 year old Belleville male was arrested and charged with one count of Assault. He was released on an OIC Undertaking with strict conditions of Non Communication with the victim. No names will be released as to protect the identity of the victim.

Cause Disturbance

Belleville, Ont ? On April 2, 2009, at 2:30a.m several police officers responded to a complaint of a disturbance on Moira Street East, Belleville. It was reported that several people were fighting on the street and allegations that one male was being dragged across an area parking lot. On arrival police requested an ambulance for one of the injured males who was transported to Belleville General Hospital and subsequently released with minor injuries.

Police are currently investigating this incident and are requesting that anyone who may witnessed this incident or have other information that may assist in the investigation to please police at 613-966-0882 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.

Theft from Pay Phones

Belleville, Ont ? In the last couple of days police have received two reports of unknown persons damaging pay telephone boxes and removing the cash. The damage has been done by prying the telephone vaults on the pay phones. The first incident occurred on March 24, 2009, at 11:56 a.m., on Cannifton Road and the second incident occurred on March 28, 2009 at 12:01p.m., on Dundas Street East.

Police are requesting that if anyone observes persons damaging or acting suspiciously in the area of local pay phones to please contact police immediately by calling 911.

Drive While Under Suspension
On March 27, 2008, a 51 year old Belleville male was arrested and charged with Drive while impaired and Over 80mgs. Further investigation has revealed the male was also a suspended driver for failing to pay child support. The male has been further charged with Drive While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario and issued a Provincial Offences Notice.

Intoxicated In a Public Place

On March 2, 2009, at approximately 12:05a.m., police responded to a disturbance at a Front Street bar. On arrival they found a male party who refused to leave when he was instructed to by the staff. The male got into a physical altercation with the bouncers. As a result of the investigation a 29 year old Enterprise man was arrested for Public Intoxication and transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was held for his own protection.

Domestic Dispute ? 

At approximately 7:34 pm on April 2, 2009 police were called to a Dundas Street West residence to investigate a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival they discovered that a male party at that location had assaulted his common law partner and had threatened her with a knife when he discovered that police had been contacted. He was also found to have been consuming alcohol and in so doing had breached his probation order. A 37 year old Belleville man was arrested for Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats, and Breach of Probation and was held for a Show Cause Hearing on April 3, 2009.
