Motor Vehicle Collision - Car into pole

On 31 Dec 2017 at 10:14 pm Police and EMS responded to a collision on Dundas Street East in front of the hospital after a car crashed into a traffic light pole which was sheared off. There were no injuries. A 23 year old Belleville man was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.


Motor Vehicle Collision – Impaired driver

On 01 January 2018 at 12:06 am a pickup truck struck a car in the intersection of College Street West and Sidney Street. Police arrived quickly and arrested the pickup truck driver for impaired driving. There were no injuries and 23 year old Gregory MASSICOTTE of Belleville was charged with Impaired Driving and Refusing Breath Tests. He was released on a Promise to Appear for a court date 25 January 2018.


Stolen Vehicle – Impaired Driver

On 01 January 2018 at 2:00 am, a resident on Wright Avenue called to say an unknown male suspect just stole her vehicle from her driveway and was driving it away northbound towards Centennial Secondary School. A Patrol Officer was nearby spotting the vehicle and was able to follow it until other Officers arrived to assist. The vehicle was boxed in and stopped on Catherine Street without damage or a pursuit even being initiated. 26 year old Michael Junior NOLAN of Belleville was arrested and charged with theft of motor vehicle, Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 mgs. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of 25 January 2018.

There was an assortment of other alcohol related disturbances, fights and police assistance to citizens with the cold weather alert but no other major arrests.
