Update – Motor Vehicle Collision Involving Cyclist

On May 29, 2016 at 6:21 pm, the Belleville Police Service and EMS responded to a call of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Bell Boulevard in front of the Quinte Mall east entrance.  While on scene, police determined that, in fact, it was a cyclist that had been struck by a black SUV.

During the investigation, Bell Boulevard westbound was closed for several hours. On June 1, 2016, Belleville Police Service received information that the cyclist identified as Donald Victor Wayne STEPHENS, 33 years of age, of Belleville, Ontario, succumbed to his injuries at Kingston General Hospital.

Belleville Police Service Traffic Investigators are continuing their investigation.

Belleville Police Arrest Male on Warrant

On the 31st of May 2016, members of the Belleville Police Service Street Crime Unit  became aware that a 20 year old male, who was currently wanted by the Quinte West OPP for failing to comply with a recognizance X2 was currently at an apartment unit in the west end of Belleville.

 At 2:26 pm, members of the Belleville Police Emergency Response Team executed the Feeney endorsed warrant and located the wanted male in the apartment located on Benjamin Street in the city of Belleville.   

As a result of the arrest, the 20 year old male of Trenton, Ontario was further charged with:

          -Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking: marijuana

          -Fail to Comply with Recognizance

          -Possession of Property obtained by Crime

 

The male was held in custody for a bail hearing scheduled this date, 01 June 2016.
