Arrest on warrant

 

Belleville, Ontario – On March 1st, 2018, at 10:41 a.m. police assisted EMS on an ambulance call on West Moira Street. A check revealed that the 22-year-old woman was wanted on outstanding warrants held by the Toronto Police Service. She was arrested and turned over to members of the Toronto Police.

 

Motor Vehicle Collisions

 

Belleville, Ontario – On March 1st, 2018, police attended at 6 accidents throughout the City. Four were deemed to minor in nature.

 

At 3:39 p.m. police attended at a two-vehicle accident at Bridge Street East at Herchimer Avenue. A 38-year-old woman was charged with careless driving. There were no injuries.

 

At 6:09 p.m. police attended at the Quinte Mall in relation to a “fail to remain” accident. The owner returned to her car to discover extensive damage. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Any information on the vehicle which failed to remain can be forwarded to Quinte Crimestoppers or Constable A. Boulay at 613-966-0882 ext. 4183.

 

 

Drug Seizure

 

Belleville, Ontario – On March 1st, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. officers attended on West Moira Street for a report of a disturbance. A 28-year-old Brampton man was arrested at the scene. As a result of an investigation he was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime. He was held for a bail hearing on March 2nd, 2018.

 

Intoxicated male

 

Belleville, Ontario – On March 1st, 2018, at 6:20 p.m. an officer on patrol came upon a man sprawled in the parking lot behind the stores on Front Street. The 54-year-old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He was issued a provincial offence notice.

 

 

Disturbance

 

Belleville, Ontario – On March 1st, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. police attended on Coleman Street regarding a fight call. One of the parties was located and was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. He was charged as well. There were no injuries.

 

 

Impaired Driver

 

Belleville, Ontario – On March 1st, 2018, at 6:40 p.m. police attended at a drive-thru of a restaurant on North Front Street in relation to an accident. One of the cars had reversed into another. Witnesses believed that the driver had been drinking. Curtis Pederson, 27 years of age, of Quinte West, was arrested and charged with impaired driving, over 80 mgs. and driving while prohibited. The driving prohibition stems from an impaired driving conviction. Accordingly, the vehicle that he was driving was impounded for 45 days under the Vehicle Impoundment Program. No one was injured in the accident.

 

 

Weapons Call

 

Belleville, Ontario – On March 1st, 2018, at 9:09 p.m. police attended on Sinclair Street in relation to a weapons call. Two males had confronted two other males with a knife and a handgun. Officers set up containment in the area and one youth was observed running near West Moira Street. This male, a 12-year-old youth was arrested. A short time later two 13-year-old males were taken into custody. The 13-year old males were charged with assault and assault with a weapon and released to a parent. They will appear in Youth Court later this month. The 12-year-old male was held for a bail hearing on March 2nd on charges of assault, assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous. Their names cannot be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The weapons were not recovered. No one was injured.
