Robberies
Belleville, Ontario On August 2nd, 2014 at 5:30 a.m. a male attended at the station to report that he had been bear-maced at the Market Square at 5:15 a.m. He added that a male and two females approached him and demanded money. The male turned to walk away when the suspect sprayed him from a cannister of bear mace. The spray made contact with the back of the males head. The male and females fled from the scene at this point empty-handed. The male was described as 18-20 years of age with a black hoodie obscuring his face. He was about 57 tall. Both women were 18-20 years of age and had heavy builds. The victim did not require medical attention.
At 6:30 a.m. another male reported that he had been robbed by a group of 4 males at 2:30 a.m. at Catharine St. and Isabel St. The males took his Roots backpack which contained clothing, sunglasses and Axe body spray. The males were all between 21-25 years of age. Two of the more aggressive males were both 59 and 150 pounds. The victim received minor injuries during the assault.
Breach of probation
Belleville, Ontario On August 2nd, 2014, at 6:53 a.m. a motorist was stopped for a traffic offence. A 24 year old Belleville man was charged with breach of probation and will appear in court on August 28th, 2014.
On August 3rd, 2014, at 1:15 a.m. police attended on Sidney St. in relation to a domestic disturbance. The male party was on probation with a condition not to have contact with the woman he was with. A 29 year old Marmora man was arrested for breach of probation and will appear in court on Aug. 18th, 2014.
Indecent Act
Belleville, Ontario On August 2nd, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. police attended at a Bell Blvd. business in relation to an indecent act. A male had exposed himself to three female employees while in the check-out line. A 44 year old Belleville man was arrested for committing an indecent act. He will appear in court on September 4th, 2014.
Drive while prohibited
Belleville, Ontario On August 2nd, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. a motorist was stopped for a traffic offence. A check revealed that the 46 year old Belleville was a prohibited driver. She will appear in court on September 4th, 2014.
Bail Violations
Belleville, Ontario On August 2nd, 2014, at 5:00 p.m. police arrested a 42 year old Toronto man for 4 counts of breaching his recognizance of Bail. The male had been released in May in Belleville on sexual assault charges. He was held for a bail hearing on August 5th, 2014.
Intoxicated person(s)
Belleville, Ontario On August 2nd, 2014, at 5:10 p.m. an officer observed a male urinating on the foot bridge downtown. The male was having difficulty keeping his balance. A 57 year old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.
On August 3rd, 2014, at 1:20 a.m. police were called to Cannifton Rd as male was sleeping in the ditch by the 401 on ramp. A 23 year old Trenton man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.
On August 3rd, 2014 at 2:40 a.m. police observed an intoxicated man on North Front St. A 33 year old Sault Ste. Marie man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.
On August 3rd, 2014 at 2:45 a.m. police observed a male passed out on a lawn on Bridge St. East at Charles St. A 22 year old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.
On August 3rd, 2014 at 3:30 a.m. police attended in Cannifton in relation to a suspicious male carrying a bow. A 27 year old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.
Assault
Belleville, Ontario On August 2nd, 2014, at 7:35 p.m. police attended at a residence on Dundas Street East in relation to a complaint of an assault. It was learned that a woman had punched an elderly woman in the face while the victim sat in her wheelchair. A 42 year old Belleville woman was arrested for the offence of assault. She was held for a bail hearing on August 5th, 2014. The victim suffered minor injuries.
Shoplifter
Belleville, Ontario On August 2nd, 2014, at 8:40 p.m. police attended at a North front Street business in relation to a shoplifter. It was learned that the shoplifter had resisted arrest and fled from security. As a result of an investigation, police located a 28 year old Quinte West man at a Belleville residence. The male was charged with theft under $5000. and given a court date of Sept. 18th, 2014.
Impaired Driver
Belleville, Ontario On August 2nd, 2014, at 11:15 p.m. an officer on patrol observed a vehicle squealing its tires on North Front Street. It accelerated into a parking lot next to the officer. The driver was arrested for impaired driving. A further check revealed that the vehicle had the wrong licence plates on it. The driver was unlicenced, and there was no insurance on the vehicle. A 29 year old Belleville man was charged with impaired driving, and over 80 mgs. He was also charged with numerous traffic infractions and will appear in court on August 14th, 2014.
