Traffic Enforcement

City Police Traffic Management Unit was out in full force yesterday enforcing distracted driving and intersection infractions.  TMU laid 15 citations to drivers distracted using their cell phones while operating their vehicles.  Further, TMU also charged 11 drivers for failing to stop for red traffic lights at different city intersections. 

Motor Vehicle Collision – Roll Over

Shortly after 7pm last night, city police were dispatched to attend the intersection of Dundas St W and MacDonald Ave in regards to a two motor vehicle collision in which one vehicle rolled over onto its roof.  Rescue crews attended and had to extricate the 34 year old woman driver out of the rolled over van and was subsequently transported to Belleville General Hospital with minor injuries. 

The driver of the other vehicle involved, a 70 year Belleville woman, did not receive any injuries, however, was charged for failing to stop at a red light.  Both vehicles were heavily damaged and had to be removed by tow crews.
