UPDATE –January 3rd, 2017 -  Male Arrested and Charged from New Years Day Stabbing.


On the 1st of January 2017 at approximately 0210 hours, officers responded to a Front Street bar in relation to a disturbance. It was determined that as a result of a fight inside the bar, one person had been stabbed. Police were able to arrest the suspect a short time later. Charged with aggravated assault is Brandon BLANCHARD, 24 years old of Belleville. He was released with a court date in February.


The victim sustained abdominal injuries as a result of this incident but voluntarily discharged himself from KGH on January 1st.

Stabbing – Original release January 1st, 2017


On 01 Jan 2017 at 2:03 a.m. Police were called to a Front Street bar where a 30 year old Belleville man was stabbed during an altercation. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The investigation is continuing by Detectives and Forensic Officers. Further media release at a later time.   





UPDATE – January 3rd, 2017 – No charges to be laid in New Years morning MVC


Members of the Belleville Police, Traffic Services Unit completed a reconstruction of the scene on North Front Street, in the early morning hours of Jan 01, and continued the investigation Monday 02 Jan.


The pedestrian, a 26 year old male from Corbyville, Ontario, sustained injuries including a broken shoulder,  but was released from KGH before noon on January 1st.The pedestrian had been drinking, ran eastbound across North Front Street, where he was struck by a north bound car.


It was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle, a 36 year old male from Toronto, Ontario, had not been drinking.


Police spoke with several witnesses and it was determined that the drivers’ actions were not factors in this collision and as a result, the Traffic Services Unit has determined that no charges will be laid in relation to this collision.


Serious Pedestrian Collision – Original release January 1st, 2017


On 01 Jan 2017 at 3:06 a.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle versus pedestrian collision on North Front Street south of Tracey Street. A male in his twenties was transported to Kingston General Hospital with life threatening injuries. Collision Investigators with the Traffic Management Unit and Forensic Officers are investigating. North Front Street is expected to be closed at Tracey Street until approximately 8 a.m.  Further media release at a later time.
