Break and Enter Belleville, Ontario

 

 At approximately 3:15 am on July 2ndpolice were dispatched to an intrusion alarm at a Front Street business. On arrival they found that a rear window had been smashed and a small quantity of liquor had been stolen. As a result of the investigation a male suspect was identified later that morning, arrested, and transported to the Belleville Police Service. The 19 year old Trenton man faces charges of Break and Enter and Breach of Probation. He was held for a bail hearing on the same date.

 

Stolen Vehicle Belleville, Ontario

 

 At approximately 8:34 am on July 2ndpolice received a report of a stolen vehicle. The car had been parked in the area of Victoria Avenue at Pinnacle Street and was taken overnight between 9:30 pm and 8:00 am. It is described as a black 2014 Ford Escape Lic # BTNE 333. Anyone with any information about the theft is asked to call the Belleville Police Service or Quinte Crimestoppers.

 

Barricaded Person Belleville, Ontario

 

 At approximately 11:52 am on July 2ndofficers were called to a Dundas Street West residence to investigate a report of a male suspect who had caused damage to the building and was acting irrationally. Upon arrival the suspect threatened the officers and brandished a weapon before barricading himself inside his apartment.  The Belleville Police Service Emergency Response Team attended and a lengthy standoff ensued with the male refusing to surrender himself. Neighbours were evacuated from their units and the O.P.P. Tactical Response Unit was called in to assist the Belleville Police officers. At approximately 9:00 pm officers forced their way in the apartment and apprehended the suspect. No charges have been laid and the incident is still under investigation. Neither the suspect nor any of the officers were injured as a result of the occurrence and his identity will not be released at this time.
