Motor Vehicle Collisions
On 01 July 2016 at 4:57 p.m. Belleville Police Service responded to a 2 vehicle collision on Moira Street West near the intersection of Avonlough Road. A 76 year old Belleville man received minor injuries and was later charged with fail to yield under the Highway Traffic Act. His passenger a 78 year old Belleville woman also received minor injuries and was the only involved person taken to hospital by EMS. The other driver, a 38 year old Belleville woman, received minor injuries.
On 01 July 2016 at 9:21 p.m. Belleville Police Service responded to a 2 vehicle collision at the intersection of Sidney Street and College Street West. No injuries with property damage only. A 55 year old Belleville woman was charged with making an unsafe turn under the Highway Traffic Act.
Canada Day Fireworks and Festivities
During the evening of 01 July 2016 Police dealt with several disturbances with the large crowds gathered along the waterfront during the fireworks display at Zwicks Park. There were no arrests, no injuries and no major problems.
Pursuit – Impaired - Collision
On 02 July 2016 at 2:32 a.m. Belleville Police Service Patrol Officers on Pinnacle Street near Bridge Street observed a southbound vehicle driving erratically passing them oncoming at very high speed. The Officers turned around and a short pursuit occurred lasting less than a minute. The pursuit ended at Meyers Pier, South Front Street when the suspect continuing to attempt to evade police crashed into a fire hydrant. There were no injuries. The suspect driver was then arrested without further incident.
Kevin Thomas FERGUSON, age 22 years of Kanata, Ontario was later released on a Promise to Appear in Belleville Court on 21 July 2016. He is charged with Impaired Operation, Operate over 80 Milligrams, Flight from Police and Dangerous Operation Motor Vehicle.
