Accidents

Belleville, Ontario On October 2nd, 2013, at 8:13 a.m. police attended on Dundas Street East at Burnham Street as a young cyclist had been struck by a car. The child was transported by EMS to Quinte Health Care with minor injuries. No charges were laid in this incident.

On October 2nd, 2013, at 4:13 p.m. police attended at the intersection of Victoria Avenue at Bleecker Avenue with regards to a three car accident. A 76 year old Belleville man was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign. There were minor injuries reported in this accident.

On October 2n, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. police attended on Alexander Street as two cars had collided head-on. One of the vehicles had to be towed. No charges at this time.

Disturbances

Belleville, Ontario On October 2nd, 2013 at 4:55 p.m. police responded to a fight call on Front Street north of Victoria Avenue. Two men were arrested at the scene, while a third man required medical attention for facial injuries. Charged with causing a disturbance by fighting are 57 year old Gerald Francis Smith and 59 year old Ken Weese. Both Belleville men will appear in court on October 31st, 2013. The victim, an adult male, was treated and released from Quinte Health care.

On October 2nd, 2013, at 7:45 p.m. police received numerous 911 calls about a fight on East Moira near Pinnacle Street. Upon arrival, an officer recognized one of the combatants as a person wanted on outstanding warrants. A 32 year old Belleville man was arrested on the strength of warrants held by Northumberland OPP. During the search, officers located a cell phone which had been reported stolen in Belleville on September 28th, 2013. The accused was charged with Theft under $5000 and two counts of breach of probation. He has a court date in Belleville on October 21st, 2013. The accused was turned over to OPP officers from the Northumberland detachment. There are no charges stemming from the fight.

On October 2nd, 2013, at 10:41 p.m., police attended on Elgin Street in relation to a disturbance. A 34 year old Belleville woman was arrested for breach of the peace. No one was injured in this incident.

On October 3rd, 2013, at 2:30 a.m. police attended at a disturbance at an east end apartment building. A 23 year old Belleville man was arrested for causing a disturbance by shouting. He will appear in court on October 31st, 2013.

On October 3rd, 2013, at 4:00 a.m. police attended on West Moira Street at Yeomans Street in relation to a male lying on the middle of the road. A 41 year old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. A further search revealed 9 grams of marijuana in his pocket. He will appear in court on October 31st, 2013 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
