POLICE WEEK – May 10-16, 2015
Police Week in Ontario is an annual event dedicated to promoting crime prevention, recognition, and awareness of police services in the community.
Since 1970, Police Week has been observed in May to coincide with Peace Officers Memorial Day, recognized internationally on May 15.
This year’s theme is “Discover Policing”. The aim is to promote the profession of policing in Ontario to the community and as a potential career for our young people.
The Belleville Police are pleased to announce, that as part of Police week festivities, officers from the Belleville Police Service will have a display set up in the Quinte Mall Tuesday the 12th and Wednesday the 13th of May, 2015 during mall hours, 9:30am – 9:00 pm.
Belleville Police Service will have items on display for the public to look at including a cruiser and motorcycle. At different times throughout the day and evening, officer will be attending from different units within the department to provide information on their part of the Belleville Police Service team. Please stop by our booth in the Quinte Mall near Sport Check.
During this time, Community Policing Volunteers will be running a fill the cruiser event. The public is encouraged to stop by a make a donation of a no perishable food item to fill a cruiser. You may also purchase, for five dollars, a prepackaged bag of food and place it in the cruiser. All donations go to the Gleaners Food Bank.
