Theft from Vehicles Charges

Belleville, Ontario On the 1st of August 2013, members of the OPP and the Belleville Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence in Belleville reference a break and enter investigation from Prince Edward County.

Once inside the residence, officers located a .308 rifle, 16 gauge shotgun with ammunition, a number of stolen vehicle GPS, a Lowrance Fish finder and a cash box from a recent break and enter into a business on Farnham Rd in Belleville.

Through investigation, members of the Belleville Police Street Crime Unit were able to determine the owners of the stolen GPS and Fish finder.

Seth Thompson, 26 years of Belleville is charged with:

2 counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm

3 counts of improper storage of ammunition and firearms

5 counts of possession of stolen property under $5000

1 count of possession of a prohibited weapon a prohibited knife

Thompson was held for Show Cause Hearing on the 1st of August 2013.

Further investigation revealed that Andrew Wood, 26 years of Belleville had also been breaking into vehicles and had stolen a credit card and then used the card at 2 local gas stations to purchase cigarettes.

Andrew Wood is charged with:

2 counts of possession of stolen property

1 count of theft under $5000

1 count of use a stolen credit

Wood was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of 03 October 2013.

Police are reminding the public to please ensure any valuables are removed or hidden away in their vehicles and to lock their doors.
