Accidents

Belleville, Ontario The Belleville Police Service investigated 5 accidents between 10:30 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. on December 4th, 2013.

At 10:33 a.m. police, fire and ambulance attended on Bay Bridge Road in relation to a two car accident. Both cars had to be towed, and one of the drivers was treated for minor injuries. A 23 year old woman was charged with an improper left turn.

At 11:33 a.m. police attended at the intersection of Bridge and Sidney Street. This minor accident was referred to the Collision Reporting Centre.

At 2:42 p.m. police attended on Front Street in relation to a two car accident. A 71 year old man was charged with failing to yield.

At 5:15 p.m. police attended on front Street in relation to a two car accident. A 53 year old man was charged with starting from a parked position not in safety.

At 5:48 p.m. police attended in the parking lot of the Sports Centre as a motorcycle had collided with a truck. The bike rider suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention. There were no charges as the accident occurred on private property.

Bail Violation

Belleville, Ontario On December 4th, 2013 at 1:10 p.m. an officer observed a male walking on Front Street talking on his cell phone. This male had been released on charges and one of his conditions stated that he was not allowed to be in possession of a cell phone. A further check revealed that there was a warrant for his arrest as his surety had revoked the bail. A 32 year old Belleville man was arrested and held for a bail hearing on a new charge of breach of a recognizance.

Shoplifters

Belleville, Ontario On December 4th, 2013, at 6:11 p.m. police attended at a north end grocery store in relation to a shoplifter. A 21 year old Belleville woman was charged with theft under $5000.00 and was released with a January courtdate.

On December 4th, 2013, at 10:02 p.m. an officer was flagged down near an east end pharmacy as customers had observed a man stealing items. The male was located nearby and arrested. He was in possession of $80.00 worth of items that had been taken from the store. A further check revealed that there was a committal warrant for 15 days in jail for a conviction in traffic court. The 31 year old Belleville man was charged with theft under $5000.00 and breach of probation and held for a bail hearing.
