Accidents

Belleville, Ontario – On June 4th, 2016, at 6:54 a.m. police responded on Hwy 2 between Elmwood Drive and Mitchell Road to a report of a single-vehicle accident. A car had left the roadway and sheared off a hydro pole. There were live wires on the roadway which caused a road closure at Elmwood and Mitchell Road. A 24 year old Selby man was charged with careless driving and was also issued a three-day licence suspension. The roadway was reopened at 6:00 p.m. once Hydro crews had replaced the pole and repaired the wires. There were no injuries.

Intoxicated Persons

Belleville, Ontario – On June 4th, 2016, at 6:58 p.m. police attended on South Front Street in relation to a male passed out on a lawn. A 21 year old Trenton man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

On June 4th, 2016, at 11:50 p.m. police attended on Bridge Street West at Coleman in relation to an aggressive male challenging people to fight.  A 37 year old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

On June 5th, 2016, at 12:06 a.m. police received another complaint about an unwanted person in the area of Bridge Street West and Coleman St. A 29 year old Belleville man was located and arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

On June 5th, 2016, at 12:41 a.m. police attended in the Bridge Street East area at Herchimer Avenue looking for a reported impaired driver. The vehicle was located parked unoccupied on Bridge St. East near Haig Road. A short time later a male was located nearby. A 35 year old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

RIDE Checks

Belleville, Ontario – On June 5th, 2016 a RIDE check was set up on Cannifton Road. Two motorists were required to provide breath samples into a roadside screening device. One driver passed, while the other driver registered a “warn”. The 38 year old Belleville man was issued a three-day licence suspension and had his vehicle towed from the scene. A total of 88 cars were checked.
