Belleville, Ontario – On August 5th, 2015, at 2:21 p.m. police responded to Pinnacle Street at the Market Square as a pedestrian had been struck by a car. The pedestrian, a 69 year old Belleville woman, was transferred to the trauma unit of Kingston General Hospital. She remains in serious condition. The roadway was closed for one hour to allow for an investigation by the Traffic Management Unit. Any witnesses to this incident can contact Cst. Brad Stitt at the Belleville Police Service. The driver of the car, a 17 year old youth, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
On August 5th, 2015, at 6:29 p.m. police attended at the intersection of Sidney Street and Tracey Street in relation to a two-car accident. A southbound car on Sidney Street had turned left across the path of a southbound ambulance which had its lights and siren activated. A 48 year old Belleville woman was charged with “turn - not in safety”. There were no injuries.
On August 5th, 2015, at 7:23 p.m. police attended at the intersection of Coleman Street and Catharine Street as a cyclist had been struck by a car. The investigation revealed that the cyclist had cut across the path of the southbound car. The cyclist was treated at Belleville General Hospital for minor injuries. The cyclist, a 28 year old Belleville man, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to turn out to the right.
Belleville, Ontario – On August 5th, 2015 police arrested a 64 year old Belleville man in relation to complaint of incidents of sexual misconduct between July 16th, 2015 and August 4th, 2015. The accused is known to the young female victim. As a result of an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division the accused was charged with two counts of sexual assault, sexual exploitation and incest. He was held for a bail hearing on August 6th, 2015. No further details will be released to protect the identity of the victim.
Belleville, Ontario – On August 5th, 2015, at 7:35 a.m. police attended on Dundas Street West in relation to an intoxicated woman. A 50 year old Belleville woman was arrested for her own protection.
On August 5th, 2015, at 10:05 p.m. police attended on Station Street in relation to an intoxicated man who was pounding on the windows of a business. A 29 year old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection.
