The Belleville Police are pleased to announce, that as part of Provincial Crime Prevention Week, this year focusing on local partnerships, Belleville Police Service will be highlighting our partnership with our Community Policing Volunteers.
We will be focusing on our upcoming crime prevention program, Lock-It-or-Lose-It. This initiative will be taking place from the middle of November, through Christmas. Belleville Community Policing Volunteers will be patrolling local shopping center parking lots as well as identified high theft from vehicle neighborhoods.
They will be checking vehicles in the parking lots and placing a slip on the windshield noting any problems identified. These problems could be an unlocked vehicle, an unlocked vehicle with keys left in view, open windows or valuables in plain view. Further, volunteers will head into neighborhoods and go door to door, educating the public on the best ways to keep their vehicles and their contents safe and secure.
The goal of the Belleville Police and our Partner, the Belleville Community Policing Volunteers, is to prevent people from becoming victims of theft and it is hoped this education program will reduce these occurrences'.
