Theft From Motor Vehicle – Belleville, Ontario

 

 Officers investigated four incidents involving thefts from unlocked cars during the overnight period from April 5th – April 6th. Cars were entered on Russell Street, Chatham Street, Rollins Drive, and Stanley Street. In two of the occurrences nothing was taken while a driver’s licence was reportedly stolen from one and a quantity of cash was taken from a wallet left behind in the other. Once again the Belleville Police Service would like to remind the public to ensure that they lock their vehicles and remove all valuables from inside prior to leaving them.

 

Break and Enter – Belleville, Ontario

 

  At approximately 6:38 pm on April 6, 2014, officers were dispatched to a report of five youths who had been observed leaving a business in the Emily Street / Station Street area of the city carrying liquor.  The caller provided a description of the suspects and on arrival officers found that a side door to the business had been forced open and a quantity of liquor had been stolen. A short time later two of the suspects were located nearby and arrested for Break and Enter and a third later surrendered himself at the Belleville Police Service and was also arrested. The remaining two youths were later found to have been uninvolved in the break in.  As a result of the investigation a 15 year old girl from Belleville and a 17 year old male from Belleville were charged with one count each of Break and Enter. Both were later released to their parents on Promise to Appears. Their names can not be released under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.  Also facing a charge of Break and Enter is Kevin MacKenzie-Baker, 19, of Belleville. He was released from custody on a Promise to Appear with a court date of May 15th. Most of the stolen liquor was recovered from the suspects.

 

 

Domestic – Belleville, Ontario

 

 At approximately 11:32 pm on April 6, 2014 police were called to a Cedar Street residence to investigate a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival officers found that a male and female had been involved in a physical altercation and that the male had damaged the female’s car and the siding of her home. As a result of the investigation the male suspect was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service. The 30 year old man from Alliston, Ontario faces charges of Assault and Mischief Under $5000. His name is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim. He was later released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of April 28, 2014. The victim suffered minor bruising as a result of the incident.
