2014 R.I.D.E. Stats:

Officers with the Belleville Police Service conducted R.I.D.E. checks on nine different dates in December stopping a total of 2104 vehicles. As a result of these checks only one driver was charged with Impaired Driving while three were issued three day licence suspensions after registering a "warn on roadside tests. There were also four Liquor Licence Act charges laid along with nine others under other provincial statutes for offences that were not alcohol related.

In addition to these numbers officers on general patrol arrested four motorists for impaired driving offences and four others were issued three day licence suspensions.

The Belleville Police Service would like to thank the many volunteers and organizers from Operation Red Nose who made over 1300 trips in 2014, a significant increase in their numbers which helped keep the roads safe in the Quinte area again over this holiday season!

R.I.D.E. initiatives will continue in the coming months as we work to combat drinking and driving in our community.
