Motor vehicle collisions


Despite treacherous road conditions, police responded to only 4reports of motor vehicle collisions in the city, all but one being minor in nature. The fourth was a single motor vehicle collision where the vehicle left Herchimer Ave. and struck a hydro pole resulting in the driver being taken to Belleville General Hospital with minor injury. The accident also resulted in a power outage for parts of Belleville’s east end for several hours.



Domestic assault


Shortly after 8:00 A.M. police responded to the north end of the city with regards to a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigation resulted in a 44 yr. old Thomasburg man being arrested on a number of charges including assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats and two counts of breach of probation. He is being held in custody for a bail hearing later today. Names are being with-held for the protection of the victim. The full extent of injury is unknown at this time but they are not life threatening in nature.
