Belleville – On the 7th of February 2018 shortly after 2:00 P.M. police conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Hwy 62 and Millennium Parkway based on information that there was a male in the vehicle with outstanding arrest warrants. Investigation by police confirmed that the 38 year old male, who informed police that he did not have a fixed address, had outstanding arrest warrants from Kingston Police Service and from Quinte West OPP including assault police, resist arrest, dangerous driving, flight from police, breach of probation and failing to comply with his undertaking. The male was further charged by Belleville Police with obstruct police when he used a false name in an attempt to evade arrest on the outstanding warrants. He is being held for a show cause hearing on the 8th of February at The Quinte Consolidated Court House.
Belleville – On the 7th of February 2018 at 7:55 p.m. police attended to a report of a woman stealing from a shopping center in the north end of the city. An investigation revealed that store merchandise had been recovered from the woman at the location. 48-year old Donna Lee Burley of Belleville was arrested and charged with one count of theft-under five thousand dollars. Burley was released from custody on an Officer-in-Charge undertaking and a Promise-to-Appear in Provincial court later this month.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
Police responded to six motor vehicle collisions throughout the city. Snow and icy roads played a factor in most. There were no reported injuries. All included property damage to vehicles, and one male driver became stuck in a snow bank in the Wallbridge Crescent area. A tow truck assisted the male from the snow bank. He was not injured and no charges were laid.
