Breach of Recognizance of Bail

Belleville, Ontario - On the 9th of December 2014, police received information from a concerned parent that their child was being contacted on Facebook by an accused person who was on bail conditions of release.   A second complaint from another parent was received on December 23rd 2014.  The accused male had been charged by Belleville Police Service in October 2013; he was released during a show cause hearing with numerous conditions which included:

  • Not to use (directly or indirectly) or possess any device capable of storing data in a digital format including by not limited to computers, hand held devices (cell phones) etc.

  • Not to use directly or indirectly or posse any device capable of accessing the internet or of composing, transmitting or receiving electronic mail

  • Not possess of access any child and/or adult pornography

  • Not to be in possession of any computerdata as described in the Criminal Code

A joint investigation began between the Criminal Investigation Branches of the Belleville Police Service and the North Hastings Ontario Provincial Police. 

On the 7th of May, 2015 members of Belleville Police Service and the North Hastings OPP attended a Bancroft address to execute a Search Warrant. 

Samuel Robbins 20 years of age of Bancroft was arrested and charged with:

  • 4 additional counts of Breach of Recognizance

  • Possession and Accessing Child Pornography. 

He was held for Show Cause Hearing on May 8, 2015 at Provincial Court 15 Bridge Street West Belleville.

Child Luring Investigation- press release 4 October 2013

Belleville, Ontario - On September 7th 2013 the Belleville Police Service initiated an investigation of child luring on the internet.

As a result of the investigation, on October 2nd, 2013 the Criminal Investigations Branch and the Technical Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at a Bancroft residence.   Two males were arrested as a result and appeared for a Show Cause Hearing on October 3rd 2013. The hearing was remanded until Monday, October 7th, 2013 for a continuation of the Show Cause Hearing.

As a result of this investigation Samuel Robins, 18 years old of Bancroft has been charged with:

  • 1 count of Child Luring

  • 1 count of Possession of Child Pornography.
