Motor Vehicle Strikes Building
On the 09th of April 2009 just after midnight Belleville Police Service responded to a report that a vehicle had struck a building on Front Street. On arrival police found damage to the building of Barbers Flowers including the front window being smashed out.
The vehicle fled from the scene and was located a short time later in the area of Victoria Ave and Bertram Street. There was a considerable amount of damage to the front end of the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle (at the time it was stopped on Victoria Ave) a 21 year old Kingston woman was arrested for Drive While Impaired. She was subsequently released with a 12 Hour Suspension and charged with Drive Motor Vehicle ? No Licence.
The driver of the vehicle at the time of the accident on Front Street has not been identified at however the incident is still under investigation.
On the 09th of April 2009, at approximately 3:00a.m., police observed an intoxicated female in the Bridge St and Coleman St area. The female entered the driver?s seat of a motor vehicle and started to drive off. The vehicle was stopped a short time later and roadside demand was made to which she failed. A 21 year old RR1 Loretto woman was arrested for Drive While Impaired and transported to Belleville Police Service for a breath test. She was subsequently charged with Driving Over 80 mgs and released with a May 2009 court date.
At about 12:30pm 9 April 2009, nineteen members of Belleville Police Service (civilian and sworn) quickly responded to a call from an East end public school where two 7 year old boys walked away from school yard at lunch time. An eagle eyed civilian member of BPS spotted the youths near Newberry Street and Dundas Street East a short time after the report was taken. Both boys were located by police and returned to school without incident.
At approximately 8:30 pm on April 9, 2009 police responded to a Cannifton Road apartment building to investigate a report of a strong odour of marijuana coming from one of the units. After speaking to the occupant investigation led police to a quantity of marijuana, prescription drugs, and drug paraphernalia. A 22 year old Belleville man was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. He was transported to the Belleville Police Service and later released on a Promise to Appear.
At approximately 10:55 pm on April 9, 2009 police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Highway #62 and Maitland Drive. Officers located and stopped the vehicle in the area. The driver failed a roadside breathalyzer test and was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he subsequently blew over the legal limit. A 56 year old Orillia man was charged with Over 80MG and released on a Promise to Appear.
