Traffic Enforcement Belleville, Ontario

On Thursday August 8, 2013 enforcement officers from the Ministry of the Environment joined officers with the Belleville Police Service Traffic Unit in Belleville. This joint forces initiative was undertaken to conduct environmental protection enforcement within the city.

As a result, 12 vehicles were stopped and inspected with three vehicles subsequently failing the Environmental Protection Act emissions testing. The drivers of these vehicles were issued compliance orders requiring mandatory repairs be made and reported to the Ministry of the Environment after completion. In addition, 1 charge was laid for improper tires and that vehicle was taken off of the road.

Missing Person Belleville, Ontario

At approximately 11:18 pm police were called to a Janlyn Crescent residence to investigate a report of a missing female youth. Melody Short, aged 16, was last seen leaving that area on foot at approximately 6:00 pm on the same date. She is described as Caucasian, 5'4 tall and weighing approximately 110 pounds. She has brown hair with blonde streaks tied in a bun and was wearing a pink tank top with black yoga pants with a pink waist band. She was also wearing black shoes and was carrying a large black purse. Anyone with any information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Belleville Police Service at (613)-966-0882.

Intoxicated Female Belleville, Ontario

At approximately 1:55 am on August 9, 2013 police were called to the Highland Avenue / Burton Street area of the city to investigate a report of a female passed out on the roadway. Officers located the female nearby and arrested her for her own protection before transporting her to the Belleville Police Service. A 22 year old Belleville woman faces a charge of Public Intoxication. She was later released from custody on a Provincial Offence Notice.

Disturbance Belleville, Ontario

At approximately 2:47 am on August 9, 2013 police were called to a Front Street business to investigate a report of a large disturbance in the parking lot. Upon arrival officers broke up the altercation and arrested two men who were intoxicated. They were arrested for their own protection and transported to the Belleville Police Service. A 24 year old Belleville man and a 24 year old Deseronto man both face a charge of Public Intoxication. They were later released on Provincial Offence Notices.
