Sudden Death – Bridge Street East

The Belleville Police Service is currently investigating a sudden death of an infant that took place on July 7, 2015.

Shortly after noon on that date police, fire and paramedics were called to an address on Bridge Street East in Belleville for a report of a seven-month-old who was without vital signs. The baby was subsequently transported to Belleville hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be held at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa on July 9, 2015, however the results will not be known until a later date.

Currently the Major Crimes Unit of the Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigations Division is continuing an investigation into the death in cooperation with the Belleville Police Service Forensic Identification Unit and the Coroner’s office.

It should be noted that all deaths are considered by police to be suspicious until proven otherwise.
