Motor Vehicle Collision - Child Cyclist 


On 08 July 2016 at 3:20 p.m. Police and EMS responded to Bleecker Street south of Station Street for a report of a child on a bicycle struck by a truck. An 8 year old boy was treated and released at Belleville General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is continuing by the Belleville Police Service Traffic Management Unit.    



Knife Pulled – Man Tasered


On 08 July 2016 at 9 p.m. - 2 Belleville Police Service Officers on foot patrol at West Zwicks Park for the Waterfront Festival were approached by several different citizens reporting a disorderly individual. Officers quickly located the man who was carrying a large homemade spear with a sharp end. The intoxicated man was verbally aggressive towards and non-compliant with police issuing him commands. An attempt was made to arrest the subject and a struggle ensued on the ground. The subject produced a large knife during the struggle but was subdued with a taser. One of the Officers received a minor hand injury. The subject was not injured. A hammer was also located tucked into the subject’s belt.    


A 30 year old Belleville man is held for a bail hearing on Monday. He faces charges of Assault with a weapon, Assault Police – Resist Arrest, Possess Weapons Dangerous to the Public Peace and Breach of Probation.
