Dangerous Driving/Weapons


Belleville, Ontario – On September 8th, 2016, at 7:02 p.m. an officer on patrol observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed on Bridge Street West near Sidney Street. The car proceeded north on Sidney Street and began passing cars in the oncoming lanes. The car was eventually stopped by police on Graham Street. As the officer was speaking with the driver of the car the driver suddenly accelerated away. The car stopped a second time further along on Graham Street. The driver, a 22-year-old Prince Edward County man, was arrested for dangerous driving. During the arrest, a taser was located in his backpack. This resulted in a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon. The driver will appear in court on October 13th to answer to the charges. The officer was not injured when the car initially pulled away.



Intoxicated person


Belleville, Ontario – On September 8th, 2016, at 11:33 p.m. officers attended on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road as a motorist had reported that an intoxicated male was running down the middle of the road. A 20-year-old Peterborough man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.


Arrested on warrants


Belleville, Ontario – On September 8th, 2016, at 11:44 p.m. officers attended in a field east of the Sports Centre on Cannifton Road in relation to a report of gunshots. Officers located a male who had been lighting firecrackers. A further check revealed that the male was wanted by Belleville Police on three warrants totaling six charges – B&E x 3, possession of break-in tools, obstructing police, and failing to appear in court. The 34- year old Belleville man was arrested and held for a bail hearing on September 9th, 2016.
