Commercial Vehicle Inspections

 

Belleville- Ont- On the 8th of September members of the Belleville Police Service Traffic Safety Unit teamed with officers from Ontario Provincial Police Highway Safety Division, Kingston Police, the Ministry of Transportation, and Ministry of Environment conducting safety inspections on Commercial Motor Vehicles.

 

30 vehicles were inspected with 11 vehicles taken out of service at a rate of 37%.14 equipment charges were laid. 17 environmental inspections were completed with 3 warnings and 1 charge being laid. Inspections revealed a wide variety of issues ranging from minor in nature, such as failing to display annual inspection stickers, to major defects such as a large crack in the frame of a dump truck. 

 

This initiative has taken place since 2007 with our partnering agencies. BPS is fortunate to have built the relationships with the agencies to assist in achieving our goal to make Belleville the safest community in Ontario.

 

 

Break and Enter - Theft

 

Belleville, Ont- On the 8th of September at approximately 11:24Am Police investigated a break and enter to a garage on Eastwood Park Drive. Sometime over night suspects(s) entered the garage and removed a scooter and helmet. The scooter was located nearby; the helmet is described as a white HTHC model. The investigation is continuing. Arrests on Warrants

 

Belleville, Ont- On the 8th of September 2017 at approximately 12:53Pm an officer observed a male party believed to wanted, he was operating a vehicle on Highway 401 near Mitchell Rd. The vehicle was stopped and it was confirmed the 25yr old male from Belleville had an outstanding arrest warrant. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing.

 

At approximately 11:45Pm Police located a male lying in the grass in the area of North Front Street and College Street. The male was intoxicated and it was learned that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant. The 43yr old male from Tweed was arrested and held for a bail hearing.
