Hallowe'en Safe Streets
Belleville, Ontario – "Halloween Safe Streets” lived up to its name last night as trick-or-treaters enjoyed a quiet, uneventful evening. According to Community Response Officer Rene Aubertin there were 130 volunteers spread across the City. In addition, there were a large number of Auxiliary Police Officers who lent their support. Between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. there were only five calls for service. These calls were not related to the trick-or-treaters.
Belleville, Ontario – On October 31st, 2012, at 9:15 p.m., Police responded to a neighbour dispute on Bleecker Avenue after receiving a report of a brick thrown through a window. A male was arrested at the scene. Charged is 50 year old Kevin David Benn of Belleville. He will appear in court on December 20th on a charge of Mischief under $5000.00. No one was injured in this incident.
Belleville, Ontario – On October 31st, 2012, at 11:30 p.m., Police responded to a disturbance in the Village of Cannifton. A male was arrested at the scene for assaulting one of the residents. Further investigation led to the male being charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 mgs. In addition, this male was in possession of marijuana. 32 year old Shawn Thomas Johnston of Marmora will appear in court on November 15th. The resident was not injured during the assault.
Belleville, Ontario – On November 1st, 2012, at 12:30 a.m. Police attended on Foster Ave. in relation to a male needing assistance. Police discovered that the male had been pepper sprayed in the face by unknown persons. Officers located a group of youths on Pine St.. A 17 year old youth was arrested for breaching several conditions of his probation. A search revealed an open bottle of beer in his coat pocket. He was also in his possession of marijuana, digital weigh scales, and empty plastic baggies. This youth was held for a Bail Hearing on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the purpose of Trafficking, and three counts of breach of probation.
The pepper spray victim was treated at the scene by EMS and released. The investigation continues into the identity of the youth who deployed the pepper spray. Anyone with information can contact the Belleville Police Service or Crimestoppers.
Break and Enter//Assault//Threats
Belleville, Ontario –On November 1st, 2012, at 2:15 a.m., Police responded to a 911 call on Church St. It was revealed that a male suspect had climbed through a bedroom window after gaining access to the roof. Once inside the bedroom, the suspect was involved in an altercation with one of the occupants who was known to him. A 24 year old Belleville man was arrested nearby. This male was held for a Bail Hearing on charges of Break and Enter, Unlawfully in a dwelling house, utter death threats, and assault. The assault victim received minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
