Police Assistance/ Impaired
Belleville, Ontario ? On 27 July, 2010 at 10:45 p.m. Belleville Police were notified of a vehicle described as a tan Silverado with 2 occupants that may be coming into Belleville from Quinte West. Quinte West OPP requested assistance in locating and stopping this vehicle.
At 10:49 p.m., Belleville police officers observed this vehicle at Dundas Street West and Bay Bridge Road and stopped the vehicle. Upon the male driver being removed from the truck, police noted signs of impairment.
Further investigation of this incident led to a 23 year old Brighton male being charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operation of Motor Vehicle with more than 80 mgs of alcohol, Possession of Schedule II Narcotic and Breach of Probation. This male will appear in Provincial Court, on 28 July, 2010 for a bail hearing at 2:00 p.m...
Emergency Fraud Scam
Belleville, Ontario ? On 27 July, 2010, two residents from Smith Crescent reported to police that they had been contacted by a male posing as a lawyer and requesting than an amount of money is wired by Western Union to assist in posting bail for a family member.
Traditionally, fraudsters contact potential victims while posing as a lawyer or family member in urgent need of cash. Often the scenario involves an accident or arrest while travelling, with a request that cash be sent through a money transfer company.
Belleville Police Service urges that anyone receiving a request for money takes measures to verify the requestor's identity and the reliability of their story. Anyone who suspects an attempt at victimization is asked to call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center (CAFC) at
888-495-8501 or refer to the website at http://www.phonebusters.com/ for further information.
Belleville, Ontario ? On 29 July, 2010, between 12:53 a.m. and 2: 13 a.m., Belleville Police and Belleville Fire Department responded to 3 separate fires on Front Street. Belleville Police Service and Belleville Fire Department are conducting a joint investigation into these deliberately set fires.

Break and Enter
Belleville, Ontario ? On 28 July, 2010 at 11:04 a.m., police attended at a business on Pinnacle Street in response to a complaint of a break and enter that occurred sometime between 10:30 p.m. on July, 27 and 10:30 a.m. on July, 28. The employee reported that unknown person(s) forced entry into the business and stole money. This investigation is ongoing.
Belleville, Ontario ? On 29 July, 2010 at 12:22 a.m., police attended at a North Front Street restaurant in response to a disturbance complaint. Investigation of this incident led to an 18 year old Shannonville man being charged with Operation of a Motor Vehicle with more than 80 mgs of alcohol. Bradley Michael Lee will appear in Provincial court on 3 September, 2010.
Break and Enter
Belleville, Ontario ? On 29 July, 2010 at 4:23 a.m., police attended at a residence on North Front Street in response to a complaint of a break and enter that occurred sometime between July, 28 and 4:00 p.m. on July, 29. The victim reported that miscellaneous electronics were stolen.
