Belleville, Ontario - Members of the Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigations Division have charged a 36-year-old Belleville woman following an investigation that spanned more than a year into a report of a stolen vehicle.
In January 2013, a woman called police to report her black 2002 Chrysler Neon had been stolen from the area of Tracey Park Drive.
The following day the vehicle was recovered by Central Hastings OPP in a ditch on Palmateer Road north of Tweed. At the time of the recovery, the vehicle had been set on fire.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police and Belleville Police Service were involved in the investigation, which determined the woman’s claim that her vehicle had been stolen to be false and subsequent insurance claim for losses to be fraudulent.
Charged with Public Mischief – 140(1) CC and Fraud Under $5,000 – 380(1) CC is Rebecca Marguerite Lloyd, 36, of Belleville.
Anyone with information about the couple or incident is asked to contact Belleville Police Det.-Const. Jeremy Ashley at 613-966-0882 ext. 2315 or Crime Stoppers at 613-969-8477.
