Belleville, Ontario – On August 9th 2018 at 11:16 a.m. police received a report of a stolen car. The theft occurred from an east end parking lot between 11:30 p.m. on August 8th and 10:00 a.m. on August 9th. The automobile was plated with Ontario licence plates BTNE-781. It is described as a 2007 grey Chrysler 300. An investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to please contact investigating officer Cst. Bicycle parts stolen
Belleville, Ontario – On August 9th 2018 at 7:59 p.m. police received a report of a bike being stripped of some major parts while locked to a secure rack. The theft is alleged to have occurred during the early afternoon hours on August 9th. The theft occurred at an east-end facility after a worker attended to go home after a shift. She observed that her bicycle had been stripped of the handlebar and brake grips. The seat was also stolen. The bike is described as a “Louis Garneau” 18-speed, white in colour, and held an approximate value of $300.00. An investigation is continuing. Motor vehicle collisions
Belleville, Ontario – On August 9th, 2018 police responded to five motor vehicle collisions. Three of these were reported to the Collision Reporting Centre for minor damage and insurance purposes.
At 3:59 p.m. this date police responded to the Dundas Street East and Pinnacle Street area for a report of a collision involving 3 motor vehicles. EMS also attended and transported an involved female to Belleville Hospital with minor injuries. A 20-year old man has been charged and served an offence notice for careless driving. At 5:46 p.m. this date police responded to the Wallbridge Loyalist Road and Dundas Street West area for a report of another collision. Minor injuries were reported at this location, and EMS attended for treatment. Both involved motor vehicles were towed from the scene. One involved driver was charged and issued an offence notice for failing to signal for a turn under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. Belleville, Ontario – On August 9th 2018 at 10:33 a.m. a downtown foot patrol officer came across a city chap having a sip from an open container of liquor on Front Street. The officer had discussion with the man. After completing an investigation, the 38-year old was issued an offence notice for having open liquor.
On August 9th 2018 at 9:18 p.m. police attended a reported family dispute at an east end location. Police investigated, and a 39-year old city man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was held in police custody until sober before being released on an offence notice.
On August 10th 2018 at 1:11 a.m. police arrested another city man for public intoxication. An investigation began earlier in the night with a man who had reportedly fallen. After police investigated the situation, a 49-year old city man was arrested under the Liquor Licence Act for his own protection. The man was lodged to a holding cell at police headquarters before being released later in the day once sober. The man received an offence notice.
Belleville, Ontario – On August 9th 2018 at 10:33 p.m. police were called to investigate a family dispute at a home in the east end of the city. Police arrived to find family members involved in an argument. Alcohol was a factor in the incident. After some discussion the people were separated with two opting to leave the residence for the remainder of the night. Police noted there was no damage to the home, nobody was injured, and there were no arrests or charges.
Belleville, Ontario – On August 9th, 2018 at 11:46 p.m. an investigation into a suspicious male in the area of Sidney Street and Bridge Street West resulted in police arresting a 22-year old man for possessing crystal methamphetamine. Zachary Vautour, of Wooler, Ontario was charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was released on a Notice to Appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville next month.
Belleville, Ontario – On August 9th 2018 at 08:20 p.m. a city man turned himself into police on charges including criminal harassment and harassing communications. Police entered into an investigation on August 7th, 2018 and gathered evidence for the case. He was arrested at police headquarters and released shortly after on a promise-to-appear later this month in the Ontario Court of Justice. The man is also on strict conditions by way of an officer-in-charge undertaking. The identity of the man is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victims.
