Belleville, Ontario – On June 9th, 2017, at 6:56 p.m. officers attended with EMS to check on the welfare of a man passed out on the footbridge leading from Mira Street east to Station Street. A 44-year-old Peterborough man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and issued a provincial offence notice.
At 7:13 p.m. officers attended on Dunbar Street regarding a suspicious male. A 46-year old Belleville man was located and EMS was summoned. The male became assaultive towards police and was tasered. He was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and escorted to BGH for an assessment.
At 7:58 p.m. officers were called to the intersection of Bridge St. West and Sidney St. regarding an aggressive woman. EMS was called to assist. The 20-year old woman was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and escorted to BGH for an assessment.
At 8:06 p.m. officers attended on Lingham Street regarding a disturbance. A group of people were located and sent on their way.
At 9:02 p.m. officers attended on Maitland Drive regarding a disturbance. All parties were separated without incident.
At 10:08 p.m. officers attended at a residence on Station Street as the homeowner reported that an unknown male had kicked his front door in. The area was checked with negative results and the investigation is continuing.
At 1:07 a.m. (June 10th) officers attended on College Street east regarding a man stumbling into traffic. A 30-year-old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was charged accordingly.
At 1:49 a.m. police attended on the Norris Whitney Bridge in relation to a couple arguing. The couple was located and they walked away from the bridge.
At 2:31 a.m. police attended at a licenced establishment on North Front Street in relation to 6-8 males fighting inside. Officers located the males in the parking lot. One of the males had been released on bail with conditions of “no alcohol” and “not to possess a cell phone”. The 21-year old Belleville man had been consuming alcohol and was in possession of a cell phone. He was charged with two counts of breaching an officer-in-charge undertaking and held for bail. There were no injuries.
At 2:32 a.m. police attended at a licenced establishment on Front Street in relation to a fight call. All parties had dispersed upon police arrival. There were no complaints of assault.
Belleville, Ontario – On June 9th, 2017, at 10:09 p.m. officers received a complaint about an impaired driver heading south on Hwy 62 into Belleville. The vehicle was located on Bell Blvd. and stopped. The driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving and over 80 mgs. 31-year-old Ashlee Beaulne of Bancroft was released with a courtdate of June 29th, 2017.
A check on the passenger in this vehicle revealed that he had been released on bail with a number of conditions. The conditions included “no alcohol” as well as “remain with surety while outside residence”. The male had been consuming alcohol and his surety was not present in the vehicle. The 28-year-old Oshawa man was arrested and held for a bail hearing on two counts of breaching his recognizance.
On June 9th, 2017, at 10:34 p.m. officers attended on Ashley Street in Foxboro regarding a driving complaint as a car had failed to remain at the scene of an accident. The suspect driver had fled on foot and was throwing items at his pursuers. At one point a pick axe was thrown at a vehicle. 28-year-old David James Bruce Ford of Foxboro was charged with Dangerous Driving and Assault with a weapon. He will appear in court on July 6th. A pick axe was recovered; no one was injured.
On June 10th, 2017, at 2:16 a.m. an officer on patrol observed a pick-up truck going through red lights on Cannifton Road. The truck failed to stop for police as it entered the 401 in the westbound lanes. The vehicle was driving erratically with speeds approaching 130 km/h. Public safety was a concern at this point and the officer discontinued the pursuit just west of the Hwy 62 exit. The licence plate number was obtained from the truck and forwarded to the OPP. Anyone with information on this 1998 GMC grey pick-up can contact the investigating officer Constable Monique Waite (613-966-0882 ext. 4083) as the investigation is continuing.
Belleville, Ontario – On June 9th, 2017 at 11:52 p.m. officers attended at a Pine Street residence in relation to a domestic disturbance. The initial report was that a male was breaking items in the home. A 27-year old Belleville man was arrested for Domestic Assault and Mischief to property. The victim suffered a cut from the broken glass. The male will appear in court on July 10th, 2017.
