Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Assault with a weapon, Breach of probation

Belleville, Ontario At approximately 11:10p.m., Belleville Police were called to a disturbance on Stanley St. Two males had become involved in a physical altercation leading to one of the males turning his dog on the other. A 23 year old Belleville resident received numerous puncture wounds and lacerations as he attempted to fend off the dog and it's owner. The victim was taken to BGH for treatment of his injuries. Thirty-six year old, Belleville resident, Jason Simpson, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and breach of probation. He has been held in custody and will appear for a Bail Hearing in Belleville court today. Additional follow up investigation regarding the dog will be coordinated with Belleville Animal Control and the Public Health Unit.
