The Belleville Police Service responded to 72 calls for service between November 10th, 2019 at 5:00 a.m. and November 11th, 2019 at 5:00 a.m.

Five-car collision

Belleville, Ontario – On November 10th, 2019, at 5:09 p.m. police attended in the intersection of Dundas Street West and Wallbridge-Loyalist Road in relation to a five-car motor vehicle collision. EMS attended and transported one person to hospital with minor injuries. A Brighton man was charged with failing to stop at an amber light.

Domestic Assault

Belleville, Ontario – On November 10th, 2019, at 5:52 p.m. police attended at an address in Thurlow Ward regarding a domestic assault complaint. A 58-year-old Belleville was arrested and charged with assault. The victim suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention. The accused will appear in court on November 18th, 2019.

Impaired Driving investigation

Belleville, Ontario – On November 10th, 2019, at 10:54 p.m. police observed a vehicle being driven erratically on West Moira Street. The car turned down Tripp Avenue and was abandoned as the driver fled on foot. The driver was observed running into a unit. The homeowner allowed police inside and the driver was located hiding under a blanket in the basement. The 37–year-old Belleville man was arrested for impaired driving by drugs. A further check revealed that he was prohibited from driving through a Criminal Court order. A search of the vehicle revealed a plastic bag containing cocaine and a spoon. A set of brass knuckles, a prohibited weapon, was located in the glovebox. The accused was also prohibited from possessing weapons in a weapons prohibition order. The accused was charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, drive while prohibited, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon while prohibited from doing so, possession of cocaine, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. The vehicle was impounded for 45 days. The accused will appear in court on November 25th, 2019.

Arrest on warrants

Belleville, Ontario – On November 11th, 2019, at 12:18 a.m., police responded to a call for service on Bridge Street West. A check on the caller revealed that the 20-year-old Quinte West man was wanted on warrants by the Quinte West OPP as well as the Centre Hastings OPP. The man was arrested and escorted to the Quinte West OPP Detachment.

3-day licence suspension

Belleville, Ontario – On November 11th, 2019, at 2:02 a.m. police attended a north end licenced establishment regarding an unwanted person. A 39-year-old Belleville man had driven back to the location to renew an earlier conflict. He was issued a 3-day licence suspension and his car was impounded. A baseball bat was also seized from the vehicle. No charges were laid.
