Liquor Licensed Premise(s) Inspection

Belleville, Ontario ? 10 April, 2010 saw a joint forces inspection of local licensed premises in the CityBelleville.

The Joint Forces Team consisted of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), the Belleville Police Service's Street Crime Unit, the Belleville Fire Department Fire prevention Unit, the Hastings and Prince Edward Health Unit - Tobacco Enforcement Unit, and the OPP Private Security and Investigative Services Branch.

The team attended local licensed premises during the evening and conducted inspections to ensure compliance with city bylaws, provincial legislation and federal statutes.

Inspectors concentrated on enforcement issues relating topatron and public safety.  A number of charges are being investigated in relation to fire code violations,underage patrons, and non compliance with new regulations that have been in place for bar owners andbar security personnel.

One person was taken into custody for public intoxicationby Belleville Police officers.

The team also issued warnings on bylawand health inspection issues.

The Belleville Police Service and its partner agencies have a number of follow-up investigations that will be conducted as a result of Saturday night's initiative.
