Animal Distress Complaint


Belleville, On – On 11 June, 2017 at approximately 2:30 p.m. officers responded to the parking lot at the Quinte Mall in relation to a complaint of a dog in distress while left in a vehicle. 

Police seized the dog and were taking the dog to the Humane Society but were met by the dog owner.  The dog owner was cautioned with respect to the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act section pertaining to causing an animal distress. 

Police are reminding the public of the dangers of leaving animals in vehicles during the heat of summer and of the possible fines associated to retrieving their animals from the Humane Society please see for specifics.
