On April 12th, 2009, police attended at five domestic disturbances between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. In each of the instances, calm was restored. The investigation is continuing in one of these matters.
At 3:00 p.m., Officers attended at a north end apartment building. As a result on an investigation, a 38 year old Belleville man was arrested for Domestic Assault. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing on Tues. April 14th. The victim received minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
Radar Detector Seized
On April 12th, at 2:00 p.m., a traffic officer on Hwy 62 at Old Madoc Road locked in a speeder at 20 km/h over the speed limit. The officer?s ?radar detection device? was activated indicating the presence of a radar detector in the offending vehicle. Despite being wired in, the radar detector was seized. The resulting fine for the use of the radar detector was $170.00. In addition, the 53 year old North Bay man was charged with speeding.
On April 12, 2009, Officers conducted a R.I.D.E program at various locations in the city. Approx 95 vehicles were checked and no tests were administered.
Breach of Probation
On April 12, 2009, at approximately 9:30pm, officers on patrol observed a male walking with a female on North Front Street. Police recognized both the male and female. As a result of a previous incident the male had been placed on Probation with Conditions of non association with the female he was observed with. The 48 year old Belleville man arrested for Breach of Probation and later released on a Promise to Appear.
On April 12, 2009 at 11:23 pm, officers on general patrol stopped a vehicle on Dundas Street East, Belleville. A 42 year old Deseronto man was arrested for Impaired Driving. He was subsequently charged with Impaired Driving and Failing to Provide a Breath Sample. Further investigation resulted in a further charged of Drive While Disqualified. He was later released with May 2009 court date.
