Youth arrested for Police pursuit from Aug. 4th
Belleville, Ont. - On August 4, 2009, at 2:00 a.m. Police attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in the City?s west end. The car, which had been stolen minutes earlier from Boswell Street, failed to stop for Police. The car drove down the embankment on Highland Ave. to Dundas St. West. The car was then abandoned in Rossmore. The driver was not located.
Further investigation led to charges being laid against a Quinte area youth this date. The 16 year old male has been charged with Theft of vehicle, Flight from Police, and Dangerous Driving. He will appear in court in September.
Vehicle stop leads to two arrests
Belleville, Ont. - On August 12, at 1:00 a.m., Police stopped a vehicle on Dunbar St. being driven erratically. All three occupants fled out the passenger door of the vehicle. Two males were arrested at the scene. Recovered in the vehicle was a stolen licence plate. There was also a small quantity of marijuana in the vehicle. A 26 year old Belleville man and a 15 year old youth face charges of Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Stolen Property. The 26 year old man faces an additional charge of Breach of a Recognizance. He was also breaching a conditional sentence order. Both persons were held for Bail. The third occupant, a Belleville woman, fled to a nearby residence. She refused to answer the door for Police. She is facing similar charges.
Denny?s Disturbance/male arrested
Belleville, Ont. - On August 12th, at 3:00 a.m., Police attended at Denny?s in relation to an unruly patron who was bleeding from the head. It was learned that the patron had been ejected from a north end bar earlier in the night. A 19 year old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was transported to BGH for treatment for the large gash on top of his head. Once the wound was stapled closed, he was returned to the Police Station. A further check revealed there was a warrant for his arrest. These charges include three counts of breach of probation. He will appear in court in September.
Belleville, Ont. - On August 12, 2009, at 8:00 p.m., Police attended at a north end grocery store. A 43 year old Belleville woman had been arrested by store security for stealing a quantity of meat. She was charged with Theft and released with a September court date.
