With Christmas around the corner, please be cautious and aware, and don't be a victim of these frauds.

The Belleville Police Service has received numerous incidents where people have received fraudulent phones calls where the fraudster claimed the citizen had won 21000 Air Miles. The caller is kept on the phone and is asked for their credit card information. Please be aware that this is a scam and don't be a victim of this fraud. Do not divulge any personal information over the phone to an unknown party.

The Belleville Police have had 7 incidents over the past two days (Dec 10-11) of Canadian counterfeit $100 dollar bills being passed at local business. Police believe that the incidents involved the same males with descriptions as follows:

Male #1

non-white, mid-20's, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with darker blue cross stripes and red Blue Jays hat.

Male #2

non-white, 30's, medium build wearing a black jacket and gray hat and glasses

Please use caution when accepting any old style $100 dollar bills.

The Belleville Police Service received complaints of door to door sales persons attempting to sell new furnaces. The sales people ask to look at your furnace and once inside your residence they try to convince you need a new furnace.

Please be aware of door to door sales persons. If someone is doing door to doors sales in your area, please contact the police to make sure it is a legitimate company that is properly licensed according to Belleville by-laws.
